Hi! I am Wendy Weihs, a freelance digital media specialist based in New York City. Since 2004 I have worked in varying advertising and media positions - everything from graphic design to programming, giving me a wide base of experience. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Digital Media from the University of Central Florida with a concentration in Graphic Design. Experience in both front-end and back-end programming along with my design background in both print and web gives me the skills needed for any design project.

Splice Technologies, Inc. is a manufacturer of high quality hardware for fiber optics, who requested a re-design and update of information architecture for their online presence.

OBJECTIVES
  • Layout focused on access to each product page, without too much hunting

SMT STUDIOS WEB SITE Re-DESIGN AND FRONT-END CODING

SMT Studios is a boutique recording studio in Chelsea, NYC who needed a re-design and updated information architecture for their online presence. The art direction was based off of previously created branding material.

OBJECTIVES
  • Focus on interactive galleries that showcase impressive location shots, past client list, and on-site interviews
  • Updated look to appeal to a more artistic/creative demographic
  • Used color and theme from brochure to develop a branded look

MAIGIN BLANK WEB SITE DESIGN & blog

Maigin Blank is a female singer / song writer who needed a website to promote her upcoming album as well as disseminate other press related materials.

OBJECTIVES
  • Design direction based off of new album cover art
  • Blog format so she could update content on her own as frequently as needed

2008 Now Or Never - Website Design & front-end coding

2008 NOW OR NEVER was a benefit concert to help raise money for the 9-11 first responders. They needed a website for ticket purchases and for sharing information regarding benefit's line-up and other related details.

OBJECTIVES
  • Arranged of a large amount of content, keeping it visually appealing throughout the site
  • Oriented design to target the appropriate demographic's style, using theme as reference

Maigin Blank is a developing female singer/song writer who needed a CD design and packaging for her new album's release.

OBJECTIVES
  • Create a striking illustration for the cover of the CD
  • Create a theme using this color and imagery throughout the CD packaging layout

PRINT DESIGN

SMT STUDIOS & Combined Partner Company brochures & business card

SMT Studios and Treefort Studios are partner audio recording facilities. The main goal was to create one brochure that reflected the individual companies presences, and an additional brochure and business card that acted as a combination of both.

OBJECTIVES
  • Focused on photography that gave the best visual field in both locations, and maintained simplicity for the copy aspect of the design
  • Simple and straight-forward approach to typography and arrangement of copy

Le Arte Del Gelato is a producer of high quality Italian gelato with various locations in New York City. Their locations range from outdoor gelato carts to indoor store fronts, which require changeable signage and point of purchase materials.

  • Arranged and created graphics of various shapes and sizes for new point of purchase material
  • Focused on simplicity in arrangement of copy and color usage

Lead Web Master for US magazine's online presence

UsMagazine.com receives over two million visitors per month. In addition to features from the magazine, the site has a breaking celebrity news blog, exclusive photos, red carpet galleries from premieres and events - plus games, videos, quizzes and polls.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROJECTS
  • Custom photo galleries
  • Programming sweepstakes and games
  • Worked with System Administrator to resolve performance and scalability issues, including caching for various levels of content being served

Development and maintanence for Bravo TV's online presence

BravoTV.com is the official site for the American cable television channel owned by NBC Universal. The site contains Bravo's scheduled programming, cast and show details, blogs, photos and games.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROJECTS
  • Assisted in upgrade to most current CMS version
  • Integrated new database content into existing view template
  • Assisted in resolving scalability issues

Rolling Stone Sweepstakes Management Application

Rolling Stone has maintained a website for many years with selected current articles, reviews, blogs, and MP3s - along with other features such as searchable and free encyclopedic articles about artists, sweepstakes and contests. Management needed an online tool that would help better organize sweepstakes, creating a single point for multi-user administration.

PROJECT DETAILS
  • Multi user group sign-in, with user groups having restricted or full access to admin sections of the site
  • Once logged-in, the sweepstakes templates were created from a questionnaire form, and stayed in edit mode until the required fields were filled out and the survey was "published"
  • Once the surveys were published, an email notification to management was sent out - notifying them they could begin integrating the sweepstakes on the live site

Jupiter Images website, StockXpert

StockXpert, a subsidiary of Jupiter Images (Now iStock), was a Royalty-Free Stock Photography community which received over 300,000 hits a day and contained over 2 million images.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROJECTS
  • Created API that transferred image data between servers
  • Assisted senior developers in the transfer of the entire site from procedural PHP to Object Oriented PHP within content management system framework
